EKI

  • MKO EKI began operations in 1996, as a World Vision International (WVI) microfinance program. Since then, the program has grown significantly and has gradually become operationally independent from WVI through localization and registration in accordance with the control over EKI’s operations through the governance structure and specific conditions tied to a long-term funding agreement.
According to the existing law of 2001, MKO EKI is formally registered as a microcredit organization. In compliance with this law, the organization only offers business-related loans up to 30.000 Bosnian Adjustable Marks or about € 15.000, and 3 year maturity.
  • With a portfolio of more than €90 million and more than 39.000 active loans, EKI belongs to the top three MFIs in the country and has about 20% market share. The total rural loans (including non-agricultural loans in rural areas) comprise close to 65% of total portfolio.
The organization covers almost all of the BiH territory through its network of 12 branches and about 30 satellite offices, positioned as the MFI with wider coverage in the country.
