CMAC Cusco

  • The “Caja Municipal de Ahorro y Crédito Cusco S.A.” initiated on 28 March 1998, with the support from the technical assistance by GTZ, in the agreement Peru – Germany. Is a public institution with private right juridical form, created with the strategic goal to being an fundamental element of finance decentralization and credit democratization.
  • The CMAC Cusco has a principal office and nine branches in the Cusco city, Urubamba, Sicuani, Quillabamba, Abancay, Andahuaylas, Juliaca, y Puerto Maldonado. Has the purpose to hold the financial access limited economic sectors, supporting the micro and small entrepreneurs like in the commerce, services, tourism, and agro sectors.
  • The main goal of the consultant was to show the real situation of the institution, its evolution during the last four years, and compare with the similar financial institutions average (Cajas Municipales). The CMAC Cusco is located in the third place in the CMACs ranking, and shows favorable financial indicators, better than its close competitors.

Project: Product Costing in the “CMAC Cusco” in Peru (July 2005 – November 2005)

Product/Services supplied: Product costing for three credit products and one saving product (Comercial Pyme, Consumo Institucional, Mes Pyme y Depósitos a Plazo Fijo). The benefits of the consultant were: the product costing tool, the revision of the process, improvement of efficiency, client’s attention. There was designed a Product Costing Model, and elaborated a Final Report and a User Manual.

Team (work in-situ): One international consultant, three regional PPP experts and two institutional counterparts.
