  • The Savings and Loan Cooperative “El Churqui” Ltda. initiated their operations on May 11 1993.The entity has a principal office located in the commercial area of Tarija city, one urban branch and one rural branch. In December 2005, their total assets were Bs. 26’441.162 (near to US$. 3.3 millions). Their liabilities were about US$. 321,000 and a capital equivalent of US$. 2.95 millions.

Project: Product Costing System for El Churqui, (November 2005 - January 2006).

Product/Services supplied: The main goal of the consultant was to implementing a Costing Information System adequate for the Cooperative´s necessities in order to provide to the Manager an efficient tool for taking decisions with suitable cost information, and to initiate a improvement in the cost management.

In terms of scope, the project includes the evaluation of three branches and four products, which were selected along with the Cooperative Stuff. The costed products were: “Amortizable con garantía personal”, “Crédito Agrícola”, “Certificados de aportación a Plazo”, “Certificados de aportación a Plazo pago de intereses al vencimiento”, “Certificados de aportación con libreta”, “Certificados de aportación con libreta y tarjeta de débito”.

Supporter: Financial System Development Project for German the Technical Cooperation (DSF – GTZ), Financial Program (PROFIN) from the Sweden Cooperation (COSUDE).

Team (in situ): One expert in product costing of the DSF – GTZ Project, three consultants of PPP and one counterpart of the Cooperative.
